Concept:
Using a found topographic map apply 3 or more different types of gradients
using Hue, Value, and Intensity.
Materials:
-Color Aid Paper
-Exacto Knife
-Rubber Cement
-Illustration Board
Approach:
Select an interesting topographic design. Think what will create an unusual design (do not think of the labor involved) Gather your colors that will be used for your various gradients. Imagine what may create depth or space (both illusionist and ambiguous). Do you want the gradient to transition into the white of the illustration board? Do you want the image to create a border? Explore all your options.
Rules:
At least 3 gradient
changes
-One Hue change
-One Saturation Change
-One value change
Must use more than one Hue (subject to change depending on the idea)
Below
exhibit gradients of Hue, Value, and Intensity (saturation)

Below are are select topographic
maps. Use a map/design below or search for your own. This map will be your
main design source.
Once you have selected your design choose your hues (more than one) then experiment/explore
what arrangement will create an unusual and dynamic design.
