Create a still-life using 3-6 styrophome cups.
When setting up your still life use a white table or sheet to place your objects on. Also, you can use a white wall for a background. If your walls are not white tape or tack a white sheet or paper to the wall and table. Everything should be white. When setting up the objects think of height variety. Put some cups on their side, upside down, right side up, on an angle, etc. Most importantly, use a strong light source (from the side) for your still life. This will allow you to see the divisions of light within the objects. Also, the shadows of the objects make an interesting image.
Your objectives:
-Use your viewfinder to find an interesting composition.
-Verticals, horizontals, and diagonals are elements used to support balance,

brushes
-quickly cover the entire canvas.
-paint the divisions of light on the objects and behind the objects.
-Refer to your value scale
-as you continue painting focus on applying a wide range of values
-Use the brush stroke to create the volume of an object. Do not worry about
blending values. Attempt to use three or five brush strokes to articulate an
object. Simplify the approach. Do not tickle the canvas, make a direct mark.
At the end of the assignment ask yourself if you have completed all
the objectives above.
